Bunkhouse
Anyone who wants to stay at the group center at Whitewater is very welcome to do so. We have a field on the RSVP form indicating if you want to stay there. It would be great if people who stay would pay $10 per night. We'll have a designated person in charge of accepting money that weekend. Each bunkhouse has three rooms. Several bunkhouses are handicapped accessible, please mention it in the RSVP form if you'd like to stay in one of these.
Keep in mind that the lodging is not going to be a five star hotel. There are eight bunkhouses that people can stay in. By bunk house, we mean bunkhouse. The beds are bunkbeds. There is heat in the bunkhouses, but bedding and towels are not provided. So anyone staying there will need to bring sheets, a pillow, a towel (if they plan on showering), and a blanket. If you want to stay at the bunkhouse but are flying in and don't have room to take all of these items, contact us and we can work something out. There is a little space for hanging clothes if you'd like to do that. BYO hangers. There is a common bath house with toilets and showers. There will probably be plenty of room for people, so you shouldn't be very squished.
We need to clean the bunkhouses before we leave, which shouldn't be too intense as long as everyone behaves themselves. Please be prepared to sweep out and wipe down your space when you leave.
Also, if you'd like to stay at Whitewater but are not into bunkhouses, you can camp at the campground. Tent set up is not allowed at the group camp. Click here to go to the website with info about camping. If you want to camp at the park, reserve soon, its a popular park!
Rochester Hotels
We reserved a block of rooms at Hampton Inn in Rochester, MN. The price is $105 a room plus tax. We have double queen and single king rooms reserved. They will release the rooms April 6, but the sooner you reserve the better. Hotel rooms in Rochester can be hard to come by on the weekends. To reserve a room, you can click here, which takes you to a personalized website. Or call 507-287-9050 and ask for the Shepard/Wolfson wedding. Call soon, especially if you would a prefer a double queen/king room. Hampton Inn is off of a main drag but is next to a residential area and not too far from a golf course. There are plenty of restaurants and shops in the vicinity. Apparently there is a great continental breakfast there and something they call soup therapy (?!) in the evenings.
We also reserved 20 rooms at the Rochester EconoLodge. There are options of either one king bed or two twins for about $65. There are a few rooms specifically reserved for the first floor if that would be easier for anyone. To reserve one of these call (507)282-9905. You can make a reservation until a week before the wedding and then any rooms left are released.
